1 in every 3 girls is at the risk of being subjected to various forms of sexual and gender based violence in Kenya. These vary from battering, rape, early marriage and Female Genital Mutilation among others; and are all a violation of their rights.

Show them that they are worth a life full of hope by sending them a rose flower this Valentine’s day!

Story of Rose

Rose from West Pokot

Meet Rose, a young girl in West Pokot with big dreams of becoming the first female gynecologist from her County. However, cultural practices like FGM which often pave way to early forced marriages, medical complications and subsequent dropping out of school are threatening her potential to achieve her dreams.

Rose ran away from home when she was informed that her parents were planning to take her through the cut and now lives in with a foster mother, Jane, a member of a local women’s group that is advocating against FGM in West Pokot. There are many more girls who are at risk of facing the knife and the resulting complications. Rose might have escaped the cut but still faces many more challenges like lack of basics like food, sanitary wear and access to education.

We are moved by Rose’s courage to fight for her rights and invite you to be part of her brave story.

Spread some love this Valentine’s season and share a rose with Rose, to support a girl at risk of sexual and gender based violence in Kenya #Arose4Rose #EndGBV
